PlayNow.com, run by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), is the only online gambling site authorised by the Province. Of the online casinos British Columbia players can join, the 6 compared here hold licences from the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, the Tobique Gaming Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority and accept players from British Columbia. They are listed in our order of preference, and each row shows the run grade its welcome-offer wagering earns.
Grade This Bonus: What Does the Rollover Really Ask For?
Enter the terms of any welcome offer and get the total amount to wager, the number of C$1 spins, the daily pace and the run grade the terms earn.
Your run grade
Fill in a bonus amount, a wagering multiple, a contribution between 1 and 100 percent and at least one day to see the grade.
Plain arithmetic on the numbers you enter; it does not predict results.
How the grade is set: effective wagering is the total amount to wager divided by the bonus amount, after game contribution. Green circle 30x or less, blue square 31x to 39x, black diamond 40x to 59x, double black 60x or more. A short window (more than 3 times deposit plus bonus to wager per day) moves the grade up one step.

How this list was put together
BC online casinos change their terms often, so each of the 6 casinos was checked on 20 October 2026: its licence and the company that holds it, the welcome offer and its terms, minimum deposit, whether Interac e-Transfer works for deposits and withdrawals, and the stated Interac payout time. Offers were read from the casinos' own bonus pages where they loaded for us and from their published terms otherwise. The run grade is arithmetic: the total you must bet divided by the bonus, so a 25x deposit requirement on a 100 per cent match counts as 25x. The order puts licence and payments first and bonus value second. Limits: payout times are the casinos' stated figures, not our own withdrawals, and offers change, which the Run report above records. The list is re-checked regularly. Full method.
Online Casino BC Rules: What Is Legal in British Columbia?
The Province says gambling in BC is legal only when the provincial government runs it, and PlayNow.com is its only legal online site. The international casinos on this page are licensed elsewhere and are not approved by British Columbia.
Online casino BC rules start with federal law, because Canada leaves gambling to the provinces. Section 207 of the Criminal Code lets the government of a province "conduct and manage a lottery scheme in that province", and casino games run on a computer or slot machine may only be offered by the province itself. In British Columbia that job belongs to the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. Under the Gaming Control Act (SBC 2022, c. 29) BCLC is responsible for "the conduct and management of provincial gaming schemes" and acts as an agent of the government.
Online, BCLC runs one site. The government's own gambling page puts it plainly: "PlayNow.com is the only legal online gambling site in B.C." BCLC's 2026/27 service plan says the same and adds that PlayNow is the only site that returns net income to the Province.
That leaves the real money online casinos in British Columbia that this page compares. Every one of them is licensed by a regulator outside the province, and none is approved by British Columbia. BCLC's service plan describes international sites of this kind as not regulated in BC and therefore illegal, and the Finance Minister used similar words in the legislature in May 2026. Those statements are about operators and advertising. We found no official BC source that describes penalties for players, and we do not claim either way; the full legal guide sets out each source with its date.
Is the market about to open? Not on the record. BCLC's current plan assumes it keeps operating "in a closed market", and its response to competition is a new PlayNow platform. Ontario has run a licensed competitive market since 2022 and Alberta opened its own in July 2026; British Columbia has announced nothing similar.
PlayNow vs the Other BC Online Casinos
PlayNow is the provincial site, with BC's self-exclusion and limit tools and its profit returned to the Province. The international sites mostly offer larger welcome offers and bigger game libraries, and pay out by Interac e-Transfer.
Most players who compare BC online casinos are really comparing PlayNow with everything else. The table sets the two side by side on the points that change what you get. PlayNow figures come from its own help pages; the figures for the international sites are the range across the 6 casinos listed above.
| Point | PlayNow.com (BCLC) | Listed international casinos |
|---|---|---|
| Who authorises it | Province of British Columbia; regulated by IGCO | Kahnawake, Tobique or Malta; not approved by BC |
| Who can play | BC residents aged 19+, physically in BC | Adults in Canada outside Ontario and Alberta; age checked at withdrawal |
| Where the profit goes | Net income to the Province | Private operators |
| Games | Slots, table games, live casino, poker, bingo, lottery, sports | 3,500+ to 8,550+ games per site, live casino included |
| Deposits | Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Interac e-Transfer, PayPal, online bill payment | Interac e-Transfer at every site we compare; cards and e-wallets vary |
| Withdrawals | Electronic funds transfer to your bank account | Interac e-Transfer, stated 1 to 3 days |
| Limits and breaks | Weekly deposit limit, Game Break self-exclusion, GameSense advisors | Deposit limits and self-exclusion per site; not linked to BC's Game Break |
One difference is easy to miss. Game Break, BCLC's self-exclusion programme, covers PlayNow and the province's casinos, but it cannot reach a site licensed elsewhere. Someone who has enrolled is still able to open an account at an international casino unless they exclude themselves there too. The PlayNow review covers the provincial site in detail.
The Independent Gambling Control Office and Who It Covers
IGCO has regulated all gambling in British Columbia since the new Gaming Control Act came into force on 13 April 2026. It oversees BCLC, PlayNow and the province's casinos; it does not license international sites.
Until April 2026, gambling in British Columbia was overseen by the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch, part of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. The modernised Gaming Control Act changed that on 13 April 2026, when the Branch became the Independent Gambling Control Office. IGCO describes itself as "the provincial regulator for all gambling, horse racing, and responsible gambling programs in British Columbia", and it now also runs the Gambling Support BC programme.
The background matters for anyone reading older guides. Two inquiries, Peter German's "Dirty Money" report and the Cullen Commission, examined money laundering in BC casinos, and the new Act was presented as a modernisation that also accounts for online gambling. Pages written before April 2026 still name GPEB, and some BCLC pages do as well.
For a player, the practical point is narrow. IGCO's rules reach BCLC, PlayNow, the casinos in the province and the companies that run them. A site licensed in Kahnawake or Malta answers to that regulator, so a complaint about one of the casinos listed here goes to the casino first and then to its own licensing body.
Real Money Payments: Interac e-Transfer and Other Options
All 6 listed casinos take Interac e-Transfer for deposits and pay withdrawals through it, in Canadian dollars. Stated payout times are one to three days after approval.
At the online casinos British Columbia residents use, Interac e-Transfer is usually the first choice, because it runs through the online banking app they already have. At the casinos listed here you choose the amount, the casino sends a request, and you approve it in your bank's app. No card number is handed to the casino.
What separates the casinos is the way back. The 6 sites all pay withdrawals by Interac e-Transfer, but their stated times differ: Sports Interaction and PlayOJO state one day, Casino Days, ToonieBet and TonyBet one to two days, and LeoVegas one to three days. Limits differ too. ToonieBet caps an Interac withdrawal at C$3,000 and TonyBet at C$4,000, while Casino Days allows up to C$25,000.
PlayNow works differently. It accepts Interac e-Transfer, cards and PayPal for deposits, but pays every withdrawal by electronic funds transfer to a bank account. Its help pages also set a C$5 minimum deposit.
Keep your balance in Canadian dollars. Every one of the online casinos British Columbia players see on this list offers C$ accounts, so there is no conversion on the way in or out; bank limits and the method-by-method detail are in the payments guide.
Best Bonus Terms: What the Wagering Really Means
A large headline means little until you read the wagering. Divide what you must bet by the bonus: up to 30 times is a green run, 60 times or more is double black.
Welcome offers at real money online casinos in British Columbia are matched deposits, free spins or both, and every one of them comes with conditions. Three of those conditions decide what an offer is worth to you.
- What the multiple applies to. "35x bonus" on a C$100 bonus means C$3,500 of bets. "30x deposit plus bonus" on a C$100 deposit with a C$100 match means C$6,000, almost twice as much, even though the number looks smaller. ToonieBet's 20x applies to the bonus alone, the lowest multiple among the match offers on this list.
- Which games count. Slots usually count in full. Table and live games often count for a fraction or not at all, so the same wagering takes many times longer on blackjack. Our grade assumes full contribution; type a lower figure into the calculator above to see the difference.
- How long you have, and the bet cap. Casino Days gives seven days and caps bets at C$10 while the bonus is active. A short window raises the pace: clearing C$70,000 of wagering in a week means C$10,000 of bets a day. Breaking the bet cap can cost the bonus and what was won with it.
PlayOJO is the exception on this list: its 50 free spins carry no wagering, and what they win is paid as cash. The bonus guide lists each offer with its full terms.
Withdrawals and ID Checks at BC Online Casinos
The first withdrawal triggers an identity check. Have photo ID and a recent proof of address ready; once the account is verified, Interac withdrawals at the listed sites are stated at one to three days.
Every licensed online casino BC players use has to confirm who it is paying. At the sites listed here the check usually happens at the first withdrawal, which is when most delays begin. Sending the documents right after you sign up avoids the wait.
Expect to be asked for two things:
- Photo ID showing that you are 19 or older: a BC driver's licence, a BC Services Card with photo, or a passport.
- Proof of address dated within the last few months, such as a utility bill or bank statement in your name.
Some casinos also ask for proof that the payment method is yours, for example a screenshot of the bank account that sent the Interac transfer. The name on all of it has to match the name on the casino account.
After approval, the stated times are the ones in the payments section above. Weekend requests can take longer, and a withdrawal made while a bonus is active may be refused until the wagering is complete.
Casinos Around British Columbia, Region by Region
British Columbia has 36 casinos and community gaming centres plus one bingo hall, in 33 communities. All are part of BCLC's network and are run by private service providers.
The province's land-based venues sit mostly in the Lower Mainland, with the rest spread from Vancouver Island to the Peace region. The counts below come from BCLC's own venue list, read on 20 October 2026. Our guide to casinos in BC lists every venue with its address, for players who want a night out as well as the best online casinos in British Columbia.
Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley
Parq Casino in downtown Vancouver, River Rock in Richmond, Grand Villa in Burnaby, Starlight in New Westminster and the Cascades and Elements casinos further east, plus several community gaming centres and Vancouver's bingo hall.

Okanagan and Thompson
Playtime Casino Kelowna on Water Street, Cascades Casino in Kamloops and Penticton, Lake City Casino in Vernon, and Chances venues in Kelowna, Kamloops and Salmon Arm.

A changing map
Great Canadian has sold eight casinos in southwest BC to First Nations in two years, according to CBC in March 2026. BCLC calls these private transactions but carries out its own due diligence on each one.
Gambling Support BC: Free, Confidential, 24/7
If gambling has stopped being fun, or someone close to you is worried about it, Gambling Support BC answers around the clock. The service is free and confidential, can arrange a free counsellor, and offers culturally relevant support for Indigenous people. BC casinos also have a GameSense advisor on site.
To take a break from PlayNow and BC casinos, BCLC's Game Break programme excludes you for six months up to three years. At an international site, use that casino's own self-exclusion. The safer gambling page explains limits, breaks and where to get help.
Online Casinos British Columbia: Questions and Answers
Is it legal to play at online casinos in British Columbia?
The provincial government says that in BC gambling is legal only when the province runs it, and it names PlayNow.com as the only legal online gambling site. The casinos compared on this page hold licences from other regulators (Kahnawake, Tobique and Malta) and are not approved by British Columbia. No official BC source we found describes penalties for players; the official wording is aimed at operators and advertising.
Who regulates online casinos in BC?
The Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO) regulates all gambling in British Columbia under the Gaming Control Act, which came into force on 13 April 2026. IGCO replaced the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch. Its remit covers BCLC, PlayNow and the province's casinos; it does not license the international sites listed here.
What is the gambling age in British Columbia?
19 for every form of gambling, lottery tickets included. The government page says people under 19 may not enter gambling venues or take part in any gambling, and PlayNow requires players to be 19 or older. The international casinos ask for proof of age before the first withdrawal.
What should I compare when choosing an online casino in BC?
Start with the licence and who holds it, then the payment route: whether Interac works for both deposits and withdrawals, and how long a withdrawal takes. Then read the bonus terms. The total you must bet before a bonus turns into cash matters more than the headline amount, which is what the run grade on this page measures.
How do welcome bonuses work for BC players?
A match bonus adds money to your first deposit, often 100 per cent of it, and free spins are credited on a named slot. Both come with wagering: you bet a multiple of the bonus before anything from it can be withdrawn. At 35x on a C$100 bonus that is C$3,500 of bets.
Do online casinos for BC players accept Interac?
All 6 casinos on this list take Interac e-Transfer for deposits and pay withdrawals through it. Recorded Interac payout times range from one day to three days after approval. PlayNow also takes Interac e-Transfer for deposits but pays withdrawals by electronic funds transfer to a bank account.
Can I play on my phone in British Columbia?
Yes. Every listed casino runs in a mobile browser and also offers apps for iPhone and Android. PlayNow works on mobile too. The rules do not change with the device: age 19 and the same account checks apply.
Are online gambling winnings taxed in Canada?
For people who gamble as a pastime, the Canada Revenue Agency does not treat winnings as income, so they are not taxed. Someone who gambles as a business can be taxed on it. If gambling is a large part of your income, ask a tax professional. This page is not tax advice.
